She is gorgeous!

Class Recording: Drawing a Pangolin in Line and Wash

Such a lovely class this week, thank you to everyone who joined me. We explored a gentle line and wash technique using ink and watercolour, drawing these beautifully patterned pangolins.

You can watch the recording in the Classes Library - This one is the first one in the Line and Wash category.

Line and Wash is a wonderful balance between drawing and painting, giving you a bit more structure while still allowing the colours to flow. It felt especially nice for those easing into watercolour.

I really enjoyed seeing all your different interpretations. Every pangolin had its own personality, from delicate scales to bold colour choices, and it was such a joy to watch them come to life.

If you are catching up with the recording, take it slowly and enjoy the process. There is no need to rush.

Class tonight - Line & Wash

Hello lovely creative,

Just a little reminder that our art class is tonight at 6pm (UK time).

Zoom Link:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83455631687

We will be drawing and painting a little pangolin in line and wash. I will guide you through setting up your sketch in simple, easy steps, and then we will bring it to life with colour. For Line and Wash you will need waterproof pens and watercolour paint.

Our theme this month is Nature’s Patterns, and I chose this animal because of its beautiful, rhythmic scales. We will also have a gentle play with colour along the way.

This month’s winner is....

This month’s winner (for March… slightly delayed!) is… Debbie! @debbieweare

I know you won not so long ago, and as this is a completely random draw, it just shows how these things sometimes fall. I am really pleased for you—congratulations.

Debbie, you will be receiving a set of 20 Stabilo Pen 68 markers. They are such a joy to use, especially with a water brush, so I will include one of those as well. You can add a touch of water and turn the pens into a kind of watercolour, which makes them wonderfully versatile and perfect for creating on the go.

They are one of my favourite travel companions when I do not want to carry full watercolour paints, and they work beautifully in our mixed media classes too.

I hope you have lots of fun exploring them—they will be on their way very soon.

Wow thanks Irene. I am so looking forward to using the markers. I feel very lucky to have won twice but if it happens again please re-draw to give someone else a chance!
