October Theme: Cozy and Calm

We're closing the month with a look at the wonderful Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, the Scottish painter famous for her flowers and, especially, her cats. She filled sketchbook after sketchbook with studies of her own cats, drawing them in pencil, charcoal and pastel as well as watercolour and oils, and there's something so cosy and tender about the way she captured them curled up around her studio. I'll share a bit about her life and work, then we'll each work from our own cat reference photo (not copying hers directly) and have a play with charcoal, pencil, soft pastels or whatever cosy combination takes your fancy.
