Hi my lovely artist, 

This is the pre-sale option for my new course: "Charcoal Expressions: Portrait drawing for all levels"

This is a 10 week online course with 6 live sessions that take place on zoom. After the end of this course the sessions will be available as recordings. 

The weeks without live sessions will have another drawing excersise waiting for you! 

The course is suitable for all levels and there will be step by step guidance but it does help if you have some drawing experience. 

In the course we will draw from reference photo's that I bring as well as photo's that you can bring to draw from yourself- The information for what you need each week will be shared in the course. You will find the reference photo, the materials, the sketch template and an explaner in the course section each week. 

If you can, it helps to print your reference pictures or have them on a screen next to your drawing during each session. 

In this course we will go into more depth than we did in the weekly charcoal drawing sessions. This is your oppertunity to deep dive into charcoal as a medium. 

I am an introvert and I do not enjoy zoom calls:

That's absolutely ok and I get it, you can be as interactive or as quiet as you want. I do usually say hi to everyone in the course and lots of people like to share their creations on screen but this is not a requirement at all. You are very welcome to turn your camera off and there is absolutely no need to interaction is that is uncomfortable to you. 

The live sessions will take place at 5PM GMT / 12PM EDT on:

• 4 July
• 11 July
• 8 August
• 15 August
• 5 September
• 12 September

What will you learn:

In this course I will take you though all stages of drawing portraits in charcoal. 

• In July we will focus on the proportions of the face and practice likelyness 
• In  August we will focus on lights and shadow and we will practice creating soft and sharp angles. 
• in  September we will focus on facial expressions and practice sharing emotions through our artwork. 

Materials you will really need are: 

• Willow charcoal sticks
• Compressed charcoal sticks
• a pencil (graphite/black or charcoal)
• Drawing paper or sketchbook
• any eraser
• a blending stick/cotton bud

Optional materials that you can use but which are not stricktly required are:

• Charcoal pencils (soft, medium, and hard)
• Charcoals in different tones
• Charcoal paint
• White charcoal
• a black colour pencil 
• sketch pencils (Graphite)
• Kneaded eraser
• a pencil eraser (I use the TomBow Monow Eraser)
• Blending stumps
• a soft brush
• fixation spray or hairspray
