Just a little reminder about our class tonight, for our February theme Small and Close.

We are going to draw a puppy up close, and I will be working in coloured pencils on drawing paper. I personally prefer not to use graphite, so I will sketch directly in coloured pencil, but you are absolutely welcome to bring a graphite pencil if that feels easier for you.

We will go through the whole process together, starting with setting up the sketch, taking it nice and slowly, and then gradually building up the colours step by step until we have our puppy on paper. It is a very gentle, relaxed way of working.

I will mainly be focusing on coloured pencils, but as always, you are very welcome to join in with any art materials you enjoy using. There is no pressure to use the same…

December was a little quieter in the community because I was away for a big part of it. Even so, so many of you kept making art, sharing your work, and showing up for yourselves. I loved seeing that. The gallery is looking fuller and fuller, and it really makes me smile.

Staedtler is hosting an art competition this month (until the 15th October) and they have asked me to help promote it. Because of that I have some lovely art materials from Staedtler to give away in this months giveaway. There are loads of great prizes in the competition, the first prize is a trip to their headquarters in Germany and loads of art materials too.

July was such a whirlwind with my wedding and all the celebrations around it, that I did not get around to picking a giveaway winner. So today I will make it up to you and announce two winners – one for July and one for August!

Both winners will receive a set of Ecoline Duo Tip water brush markers.

These are beautiful, water-soluble markers that turn into paint once you add water. They are professional quality and such a joy to use. Each set is worth about £15 – a small package this time, but one filled with creative possibilities.

It is best to store these markers horizontal and if the nib dries out just add a drop of water to revive it.

I will also tuck in a few extra treats – some washi tape and perhaps a few other little surprises. I cannot wait to see what you create…

These beautiful brush pens are artist-quality and water-soluble. You can draw with them and then add water to turn them into paint.
